2009: Had a strong season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Had best marks of 18.29 in the 110 high hurdles, 73.28 in the 400 hurdles and 30-4.25 in the shot put. Finished 10th in the 400 hurdles in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and 11th in the 110 high hurdles.

At Montebello High School: Competed in track and field, soccer and cross country. Graduated with honors. Was named the Best Runner for two years on the cross country team. Was the two-year captain of the track and field team and was the Field Most Valuable Player for two years. Won the Almost League high jump championship and took third in the league in the 110 meter hurdles.

Personal: Son of Hector and Manuela Perez. Majoring in electrical engineering. Enjoys playing soccer. Lists competing in CIF in track and field, soccer and cross country in high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
