Biography

2024-25: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Was the only player on the team to start all 29 games. Played 915 minutes. Averaged 8.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Led the team in 3-pointers (63), was second in minutes played, fifth in scoring and third in assists. Had a career-high 28 points and was 8-of-10 from 3-point range in an 87-67 win at Cal State San Marcos (1-11-25). Had 20 points and played all 40 minutes in an 87-81 win over Cal State East Bay (1-18-25). Was 6-of-9 from 3-point range in the game. Had a season-high seven assists and five points against Cal Poly Humboldt (2-22-25). Had a career-high eight steals and a season-high four rebounds in a 64-58 win over Cal State San Marcos (1-30-25). Reached double figures in nine games and scored 20 or more points in two games. Earned 2024-25 California Collegiate Athletic Association Winter Academic Honor Roll recognition. For his career, appeared in 88 games with 55 starts and played a total of 1,959 minutes. Averaged 5.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Reached double figures in scoring 17 times and scored 20 or more points in two games.

2023-24: Continued his impressive improvement and had another productive season despite battling through some injuries. Appeared in a career-high 26 games with nine starts. Played a total of 478 minutes. Averaged 4.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Was sixth on the team in steals with 25, seventh in assists and seventh in 3-pointers made with 23. Scored a season-high 13 points and grabbed a career-high five rebounds in a season-high 34 minutes of a 74-67 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-29-23). Had a pair of 11-point games, scoring 11 in an 80-76 win at Cal State East Bay (1-11-24) and scoring 11 again in 18 productive minutes of an 86-80 win over Chico State (1-18-24). Reached double figures in scoring three times. Earned 2023-24 CCAA Winter Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2022-23: Showed great improvement for the Golden Eagles and earned a bigger role on the team. Appeared in 20 games and started 12 times. Played a total of 395 minutes. Averaged 6.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Was tied for third on the team with 22 steals. Scored a career-high 19 points in 29 minutes in an 80-77 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills (1-19-23). Hit five of six free throws in the final two minutes to preserve the victory. Had 17 points, three rebounds and three assists in a 65-63 win at Cal Poly Pomona (1-5-23). Hit a career-high five 3-pointers in the game. Hit four consecutive 3-pointers to open the second half and slice a 14-point deficit down to two points. Set a season-high for rebounds with four against Cal State East Bay (1-21-23), at Cal State Monterey Bay (2-4-23) and against Chico State (2-11-23). Played a season-high 35 minutes at Sonoma State (1-14-23). Reached double figures in scoring in four games. An outstanding student, earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators. Earned 2022-23 CCAA Winter Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2021-22: Made significant contributions for the Golden Eagles in his first season on the court with the program. Appeared in 13 games with five starts. Played a total of 171 minutes. Averaged 2.6 points, 0.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Scored a season-high 12 points with three assists in 31 minutes against Chico State (2-17-22). Had season highs of five assists and five steals in a career-high 40 minutes against Stanislaus State (2-19-22). Had a season-high three rebounds against Sonoma State (1-6-22). Made his Cal State LA debut and played six minutes at Concordia (11-13-21). Made his first career start and played 19 minutes at Fresno Pacific (12-20-21). Earned 2021-22 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors.

2020-21: Earned 2020-21 CCAA All-Academic honors in his first year with the program. Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Salesian College Preparatory: Was a part of one of the most dominant high school programs in California. Team won Division III NCS championships in 2018 and 2019 and captured Tri-County League championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Earned All-League honors as a senior after averaging seven points and seven assists per game. Team went 10-0 in league and 20-7 overall in 2020. Was a four-time member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Son of Octavius and Janther Lazo. Majoring in computer science. Enjoys listening to music, watching movies and video games. Lists winning the CCAA Tournament as his most exciting experience in sports.
