Cal State LA Athletics

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19 in his lone year with the track and field program. Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall and ran in three races. Finished 46^th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 26:16.5 over 8,000 meters. Finished 47^th in the NCAA West Regionals with a time of 32:11.1 over 10,000 meters. Was the team’s No. 2 runners in both meets.

At Hacienda Heights Wilson High School: Won Valle Vista League individual championship in cross country. Also won the league championship in track and field in the 3,200 meters.

Personal: Son of Sal and Hirmita Zavala. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys watching boxing. Lists making it to state and having a breakthrough and getting big time personal records in unofficial races as his most exciting experiences in sports.
