Summary

Biography

2021: Earned 2020-21 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and also received 2021 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition for track and field. Team did not compete due to COVID-19 in his final year with the program.

2020: Was on Cal State LA’s track and field roster, but did not compete in any meets in the shortened season. Was also on Cal State LA's cross country team in the fall, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Had an outstanding first season with Cal State LA’s cross country team. Was the team’s No. 1 runner in all seven meets. Finished 23rd in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a time of 25:58.62 over 8,000 meters. Finished 48th overall at the NCAA West Region Championships with a time of 31:18.6 over 10,000 meters. Also had a pair of top-10 finishes. Placed second at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational with a time of 25:27.9 over 8,000 meters and was eighth at the Coyote Challenge with a time of 24:31.69 over 8,000 meters.

At Long Beach City College: Was the Most Valuable Runner on his cross country team in 2018 and earned All-State honors. Finished 11th in the South Coast Conference Championships. Was the school’s Track and Field Newcomer in 2018.

At Samueli Academy: Earned first-team All-San Joaquin honors and was on the school’s Honor Roll from 2013-17. Competed in cross country and track and field.

Personal: Son of Maria Marquez. Majoring in geography. Enjoys hiking, trying new food, drawing, reading, running, hanging out with family and friends and meeting new people in college. Lists joining the Long Beach City College team was his most exciting experience in sports. Notes his first cross country season was difficult because he couldn’t run as fast as he wanted to, but after some time off in between seasons, he was able to faster thanks to hard work and dedication. Says he is one of three sets of twins in his family.
