Summary

Biography

2021: Suffered a major injury before the season started and was unable to compete in her final year with the program. For her career, appeared in 52 games and started 47 times. Played a total of 3,939 minutes. Scored 15 goals with eight assists for 38 points. Her 10 goals as a freshman in 2017 was tied for ninth all-time for single-season goals and she led the conference in scoring that year with 25 points, which is ninth all-time at Cal State LA.

2020: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in her third year with the program. Had three goals and one assist for seven points. Was tied for second on the team in goals and was tied for second in points. Earned third-team All-West Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Received second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Scored game-winning goals in Cal State LA’s first two games of the season. Got the go-ahead goal in the second half of a 2-1 win at Biola on Sept. 5 and scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Concordia-Irvine on Sept. 9. Added the Golden Eagles’ third goal in a 5-0 win at San Francisco State on Nov. 7. Had the assist on a goal by Valerie Mares in the 54th minute of a 1-0 victory at Humboldt State on Nov. 9. Appeared in 18 games and started 14 times. Played a total of 1,131 minutes.

2018: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles and was once again one of the top players in the CCAA. Earned second-team All-CCAA honors and also received third-team All-West Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Scored two goals and added two assists for a total of six points. Was third on the team in scoring. Scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Biola on Sept. 1 and had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Stanislaus State on Sept. 16. Also had an assist on a goal by Ashtyn Bracamonte in a 2-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 26. Appeared in 17 games and started 16 times. Played a total of 1,406 minutes.

2017: Had the best freshman season in the program’s history and was named the CCAA Offensive Player of the Year and the Freshman of the Year. Became the program’s third CCAA Offensive Player of the Year, third CCAA Freshman of the Year and the first to win both. Earned third-team All-America honors from the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association and United Soccer Coaches and first-team All-West Region honors from both organizations. Led the Golden Eagles and the CCAA in scoring with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. Accounted for 15 of the team’s 20 goals during the season. Recorded the program’s 17th hat trick and the first since 2014 in a 3-1 over Fresno Pacific on Sept. 9. Also had both goals in a 2-0 win at Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 15. Had game-winning goals in 1-0 wins over Azusa Pacific on Aug. 31 and San Francisco State on Oct. 15. Also had a game-winning goal in a 2-1 win at Cal State East Bay on Oct. 8. Assisted on both goals by Irma Pinzon in a 2-1 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 6. Had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Stanislaus State on Oct. 26. Was named Cal State LA’s Female Rookie of the Year. Started all 17 games. Played a total of 1,402 minutes.

At Colegio Ibero Tijuana High School: Played soccer in high school. Was on a team that took first place in the 2015 Ibero National Cup. Scored the most goals in the National Cup.

Personal: Daughter of Manuel Chaidez and Eneyda Retes. Majoring in marketing. Enjoys going to the beach, eating, hiking, traveling and shopping. Lists training and playing with Mexico’s U-20 national team and winning twice in the National Olympics as her most exciting experiences in sports.
