Cal State LA Athletics

At Clayton State: Had a best 5,000-meter time of 22:01.50 and a best 6,000 time of 26:11.20. Battled for a top-five spot as a junior in 2010. Competed in all six events as a sophomore in 2009 and finished 35^th at the Peach Belt Conference Championships. Posted her career best in the 5,000 at 21:21.97 and her career best in the 6,000 at 25:54.40. Had best times of 5:10.68 in the 1,500 and 20:10.60 in the 5,000 in track.

At Bell Gardens High School: Helped lead school to back-to-back Almont League championships in track and field and a cross country league title in 2006. Was a team frosh-soph MVP in 2006 and earned second-team All-League honors in 2007-08.

Personal: Daughter of Richard and Stella Mares. Majoring in English. Enjoys watching television, eating and sleeping. Lists running at Arcadia High School and winning the league championship as a team as her most exciting experience in sports.
