VENTURA -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2026 season with a 7-0 victory over Jessup on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles got a win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point against a short-handed Jessup squad and then took all five singles matches contested in straight sets. Jessup forfeited the No. 6 singles match.
Since the Golden Eagles (1-4) already had one doubles contest in their favor due to Jessup's forfeit at No. 3 doubles, the point was clinched when Cal State LA's No. 2 team of
Macy Hinds and
Sofia Pavlova defeated Jessup's Rylie Maloney and Maria Antonella Cardenas, 6-2. Cal State LA's No. 1 doubles team of
Mane Sargsyan and
Georgiana Parr was leading 5-2 when the point was clinched.
Pavlova beat Briana Smith, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, Parr beat Giselli Reschke, 7-6, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Sargsyuan beat Maloney at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2,
Ainoho Salo beat Danielle Akabane, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and
Charlotte Downs beat Cardenas, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday with a match at Westmont.Â
