Nevaeh Asiasi Earns All-West Region Honors

SAN FRANCISCO -- On the eve of the opening day of the NCAA Tournament, Cal State LA's Nevaeh Asiasi has been named to the 2025-26 Division 2 College Commissioners Association All-West Region team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Asiasi, the first California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year in program history, earned first-team honors in voting by the region's sports information directors. Asiasi was one of five players named to the first team, joining West Region Player of the Year Asher Cai of Central Washington, PacWest Conference Player of the Year Kaylee Byon of Vanguard, Olivia Hodges of Western Washington, and Sydney Nelson of Cal Poly Pomona.

Asiasi leads the CCAA with a 19.3 points per game scoring average and she also leads the Golden Eagles in rebounds (8.7 per game) and steals (2.7 per game). She was named the CCAA Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Golden Eagles to their first-ever conference tournament title in program history.

Asiasi becomes the first Golden Eagle since Lily Buggs in 2022-23 to earn first-team All-West Region honors. Buggs was the first since Monika Tokoro in 2003 to earn first-team honors.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II West Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA All-Region teams. The process concludes with All- American selections announced later in the month. The NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association sponsored the All-Region teams.

The Golden Eagles will be making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in the past four years on Friday when, as the No. 5 seed, they face No. 4 seed Vanguard at 7:30 p.m. at Central Washington. Cal State LA is making its fifth appearance overall and seeking its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
