LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's basketball team had three members earn Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Amaya Fuentes,
Mariah Blake and
Ariyah Smith all earned the academic recognition after a record-breaking season for the program on the court and exceptional work in the classroom. Fuentes earned the honor for third time, while Blake and Smith earned All-District honors for the first time.
The awards honor student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program (formerly known as the CoSIDA Academic All-America program) recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and be a starter or important reserve with at least a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the team's games or started at least 66 percent of their institution's games.

She appeared in all 31 games with two starts and was third on the team in scoring with 9.2 points per game and second in rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game. She had double-doubles in Cal State LA's final two games of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Cal Poly Pomona in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship game and 21 points and 10 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament in a first-round game against Vanguard. She is a business management major and carries a grade point average of 3.81.
Smith, a sophomore guard who transferred to Cal State LA from Cal State East Bay, was a key newcomer for the Golden Eagles on the court. She started all 29 games she appeared in and was fourth on the team in scoring with 9.1 points per game and led the CCAA in assists with 5.4 per game. She was on the team in minutes played with 933. She is a nutritional science major and carries a 3.64 grade point average.
The trio helped Cal State LA to a historic season, highlighted by a first-ever CCAA Tournament title, a program-record 24 wins and a program-record 15-game winning streak.
All three also earned All-CCAA honors. Fuentes and Smith earned second-team honors, while Blake earned honorable mention.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.
