LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up short Tuesday against Point Loma.
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and got a lone singles win from
Maldini Simic in a 6-1 loss to the Sea Lions at the Billie Jean King Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (0-4) has played three of its first four matches at home.
Simic continued her strong start to the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Anna Pallencaoe. She won her third straight match and is now 3-1 on the season.
Sofia Pavlova had a tight battle at No. 1 singles before falling to Alina Kupfer, 6-3, 6-4 and
Mane Sargsyan fell to Vendrell Conde, 6-3, 6-4, in a tight match at No. 4 singles.
Georgiana Parr fell at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0,
Ainoho Salo fell at No. 5 singles to Zoe Moley, 6-0, 6-0 and
Macy Hinds fell to Melissa Zirkle, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, Pavlova and Simic were closing in on a win at No. 1, but the point was clinched with the Cal State LA pair leading 5-1. Sargsyan and Parr fell at No. 2 doubles, 6-3 and Hinds and Salo fell at No. 3 doubles, 6-1.
Cal State LA will return to action on March 4 against Jessup in Ventura.
