LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team concluded its 2024-25 season with a tough loss to Azusa Pacific on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and the Cougars then won the first three matches off the court in singles to claim a 4-0 victory. Cal State LA (3-13) had a two-match winning streak snapped while Azusa Pacific (18-2) will carry a 10-match winning streak into the PacWest Championships next week.
Sofia Pavlova and 
Maldini Simic had a 4-2 lead in their doubles contest against Tina Moser and Shanelle Lopez at No. 2 doubles when the point was clinched for the Cougars. 
Sarah Olmos and 
Hideka Takamura fell at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, to Karola Suviste and Stina Larsson, and 
Lea Rolland and 
Courtlyn Lam fell at No. 3 doubles to Katherine Nguyen and Julia Jordan.
The Cougars then clinched the match with three wins in singles. Jordan beat Olmos, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, Suviste beat 
Summer Roybal at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Lopez beat Lam, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
Rolland had a lead at No. 5 singles, 7-6 (7-0), 2-3  over Moser at No. 4 singles, Takamura battled back to even in the second set and was trailing, 6-1, 4-4, to Nguyen at No. 3 singles and Pavlova had won the final two games and was down 6-3, 5-2 at No. 1 singles against Larsson.
Cal State LA finished its 2024-25 season with two wins in its last three matches.
