LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's
Alex Mendez has become the latest member of the Golden Eagles' nationally-recognized men's soccer program to earn All-America honors.
Mendez earned 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II All-America second-team honors, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Mendez was instrumental in helping the Golden Eagles reach the NCAA playoffs for an eighth straight year and for the 13th time in the past 14 seasons and finish the 2025 season with an 8-3-7 record.
Mendez started all 17 games he played in during the 2025 season and led the team with five goals, two assists and 12 points.
With Mendez earning All-America recognition, Cal State LA has now had an All-American in seven straight years, a stretch that began in 2018, and in 14 of the past 17 seasons dating back to 2008.
Mendez was one of seven players from the California Collegiate Athletic Association to earn All-America recognition on Thursday. Stanislaus State placed two players, defender Ian Reis and foward Gerardo Flores, on the first team, while Mendez was joined on the second team by goalkeeper Angel Rujiz-Hernandez of Stanislaus State, defender Ndifor Ginyhui of Cal State Dominguez Hills and defender Samuel Villanueva of Stanislaus State. Forward Emmanuel Duran of Stanislaus State earned third-team honors.
Earlier this week, Mendez was one of 11 players named to the All-West Region first team. Cal State LA has now had at least one player earn first-team All-Region honors in 17 straight seasons dating back to 2008.
