LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team has earned its spot in the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in the past 14th season, only this time the Golden Eagles will be on the road for an opening-round game.

The Golden Eagles received the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 seed University of Colorado Colorado Springs in an NCAA Super Region 4 first-round game at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday at 3 p.m. The winner will advance to a second-round game against the Toros on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Cal State LA, which won Super Region 4 titles in 2019 and 2021 and reached the championship match in 2023, will be making its 19th NCAA appearance overall and its eighth straight. The Golden Eagles will be competing in a first-round match for the first time since the Super Region format was instituted in 2019 with four "Super Regions" of 10 teams making up a 40-team tournament. Cal State LA hosted matches in each of the first five years.

The Golden Eagles (8-4-6) will face the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament champions, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions (11-5-4) are making their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UCCS erased a 2-0 deficit to MSU Denver to win the conference tournament title, 3-2, on Sunday. 

The teams will be meeting in the NCAA playoffs for the first time.

The Golden Eagles have been off since falling in a CCAA Tournament first-round match to Cal State East Bay, 2-1, on Sunday, Nov. 9.

Cal State LA and UCCS will be one of two first-round matches on Friday. No. 8 seed Western Oregon will meet No. 9 seed Hawaii-Hilo on Friday at No. 1 seed Stanislaus State. The Warriors will host the winner on Sunday.

In other second-round matches set for this week, No. 3 seed Point Loma will host No. 6 seed Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday and No. 4 seed Midwestern State will host No. 5 seed Seattle Pacific on Sunday.

The regional semifinals will be held at two sites on Nov. 30 with the Super Region 4 title match scheduled for Dec. 7. The national semifinals and finals will be held on Dec. 12 and 14 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
