LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's
Taesja Paopao and
Jassmin Ortiz have been named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's All-Region team, the organization posted to its website on Tuesday.
Paopao earned first-team honors for the second straight season from the United Soccer Coaches, while Ortiz earned second-team honors, also for a second straight season. Both players were instrumental in helping the Golden Eagles to a 9-4-5 overall record and a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament for an 11th straight season. Cal State LA finished third in the conference for the second straight year.
Paopao received first-team honors from a second organization this year. Previously, she was named to first team by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association in voting by the region's sports information directors.
She was named the CCAA Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season after leading the conference in goals against average (.604) and save percentage (.867). She finished her Cal State LA career with 21 shutouts over two seasons.
Ortiz, meanwhile, earned first-team All-CCAA honors for the first time in her two-year Cal State LA career after earning second-team honors in 2023. She had a pair of goals, both game-winners in back-to-back wins late in the season over San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay that helped clinch a tournament spot for Cal State LA. She also has an assist for a total of five points.
The United Soccer Coaches teams are selected in voting by the region's women's soccer head coaches.Â
