Biography

2024: Had another sensational season for the Golden Eagles in her second and final year with the program. Became the first player to earn California Collegiate Athletic Association Goalkeeper of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from both the United Soccer Coaches and D2 Conference Commissioners Association for a second straight season. Also earned first-team All-CCAA honors for a second straight season. Started all 18 games for the Golden Eagles and played every minute of every game for a total of 1,640 minutes. Had a 9-4-5 record with nine shutouts. Made 72 saves and had a saves percentage of .867. Allowed only 11 goals and had a goals against average of 0.60. Earned two more CCAA Player of the Week awards for the weeks of Sept. 9-15 and Sept. 30-Oct. 6. Made a season-high eight saves in a 0-0 tie against Hawaii-Hilo on Sept. 7. Made five saves in a 1-0 win over Vanguard on Sept. 11 and made six saves in a 1-1 tie against Point Loma on Sept. 14. Had seven saves in a 1-0 win at Chico State on Oct. 4 and six saves in a 2-0 win over Sonoma State on Oct. 11. Had seven saves in a 1-0 win over Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 27 and ended her career with three saves and a shutout in a 0-0 draw with Cal State Monterey Bay in a CCAA Tournament first-round game in University Stadium on Nov. 10. For her career, appeared in 39 games, all starts, and played a total of 3,531 minutes. Had an 18-7-14 record with 21 shutouts. Made 142 saves and had a .877 saves percentage. Had a goals against average of 0.51. Set new Cal State LA career records for goals against average and saves percentage and finished tied for second in shutouts.

2023: Had a remarkable first season with the Golden Eagles and became the first player to earn first-team All-America honors since 2014. Was only the second player ever to receive first-team All-America honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Also earned third-team All-America honors from the D2 Conference Commissioners Association. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from both organizations. Was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Goalkeeper of the Year and earned first-team All-CCAA honors. Started all 21 games for the Golden Eagles and played 1,891 minutes. Allowed only nine goals all season and had a 9-3-9 record with 12 shutouts and a 0.43 goals against average. Made 70 saves and had a goals against average of .886. Set a new program record for goals against average and was No. 7 in the nation. The nine goals allowed are the fewest in program history. The .886 saves percentage ties the program record and was No. 4 in the nation. Highlighted her season with an extraordinary performance in an NCAA first-round playoff game against Simon Fraser on Nov. 16. After making nine saves in a 0-0 tie, made three consecutive stops during the penalty-kick shootout to send the Golden Eagles to the next round. Made her Cal State LA debut and made five saves in a 1-0 win at Concordia on Aug. 31. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 11-17 after making seven saves in a 2-1 win over Biola on Sept. 13 and making six saves in a 0-0 tie with Azusa Pacific on Sept. 16. Also competed for the track and field team in the spring (2023). Had best marks of 12-5.25 in the long jump, 24-4.25 in the shot put and 63-3 in the javelin.

At UC Irvine: Made four starts at goalkeeper in two seasons with the NCAA Division I program. Was 1-1 with one shutout as a freshman and 1-1 in two starts as a sophomore.

At Oceanside High School: Was a Player of the Year and Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2019. Was team Most Valuable Player in 2017 and 2019. Was a Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Earned first-team All-League honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Was a Scholar-Athlete all four years in high school. Competed in swimming, basketball, soccer and softball.

Personal: Daughter of Sale and Amy Paopao. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys spending time with family and going to the beach. Lists winning as her most exciting experience in sports.
