NORTHRIDGE -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team had some competitive sets Thursday, but dropped a pair of matches at CSUN.

The Golden Eagles dropped both contests by 5-0 decisions. The Golden Eagles had to adjust their lineup without No. 1 pairs player Iane Henke, but still battled admirably.

In the first match of the day, Emily Elliott and Eliza Cannon had the most competitive contest, falling to Emily Sparks and Mac McCarthy, 23-21, 21-18, at No. 2 pairs. At No. 1 pairs, Ashley Dittmann and Jameson Sanders fell to Lauren Eknoian and Tasha Mae, 21-7, 21-8, Shelby Grubbs and Haley Roundtree fell to Seyvion Waggoner and Mikaela Maughan at No. 3 pairs, 21-13, 21-11, Ayjah Landers and Jaden Grova fell to Victoria Rogers and Layla Cederlind at No. 4 pairs, 21-19, 21-11 and Tehya Chadwick and Rebecca Topete fell at No. 5 pairs, 21-9, 21-7, to Abbey Sweeting and Gabriela Griego.

In the second match, two contests with to three sets. Elliott and Cannon took the opening set before falling to Sparks and McCarthy, 14-21, 21-19, 15-6 at No. 2 pairs and Grubbs and Roundtree also took the first set before falling in three, 16-21, 21-6 and 15-9, at No. 3 pairs to Waggoner and Maughan.

Dittmann and Sanders fell to Eknoian and Mae, 21-5, 21-15 at No. 1 pairs, Landers and Grova fell to Rogers and Cederlind, 21-11, 21-15 at No. 4 pairs and Chadwick and Topete fell to Sweeting and Griego, 21-6, 21-7.

Cal State LA will conclude its season with a match at Golden West College on April 25.
