HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team enjoyed great success on Friday against a pair of junior college opponents.

The Golden Eagles were firing on all cylinders in a pair of 5-0 victories over Riverside City College and host Golden West College. The matches will not count as part of the Golden Eagles' NCAA record because only results against four-year institutions are tabulated.

The Golden Eagles opened the day with their win over Riverside City College. Eliza Cannon and Jameson Sanders moved up to the No. 1 pairs spot and beat Nina Peay and Audrey Elias, 21-5, 21-18. Emily Elliott and Zuhal Cetin won at No. 2 pairs, 21-19, 21-11, over Lanah Bergen and Azriel White, Shelby Grubbs and Haley Roundtree won at No. 3 pairs, Hoku Godoy and Kaylee Torress, 21-13, 21-5, Ayjah Landers and Jaden Grova won at No. 4 pairs, 21-5, 21-12, over Katie Moore and Kelly Moore and Tehya Chadwick and Beatriz Jimenez won at No. 5 pairs, 21-10, 21-15, over Jada Cottom and Mia Castro, 21-10, 21-15.

Cal State LA then beat host Golden West College, also by a 5-0 count. Iane Henke and Ashley Dittmann won at No. 1 pairs, 21-10, 21-6, over Iliana Galardo and Maci Hendry, Cannon and Sanders were victorious at No. 2 pairs, 21-10, 21-19, over Paige Phillips and Genna Ambroso, Grubbs and Roundtree won their second match of the day at No. 3 pairs, 21-10, 21-8, over Cassandra Flores and Leslie Cambray, Landers and Grova won at No. 4 pairs, 21-4, 21-13, over Carina Koerfer and Erin Johnson and Jimenez and Chadwick were victorious at No. 5 pairs, 21-10, 21-15.

Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday, April 6, with a pair of matches against Pepperdine and Long Beach State in Long Beach.
