IRVINE -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team came up short Friday in a pair of matches at the Great Park in Irvine.

The Golden Eagles fell to host Concordia, 5-0, in their first contest of the day and then fell to Vanguard, 4-1, in their second match. Cal State LA (0-6) continued to show improvement, but was unable to secure a victory on a day that actually featured some sunshine.

Cal State LA's Ashley Dittmann and Iane Henke split their two matches on Friday and are now 5-1 on the season. Dittmann and Henke fell to Sara Ostojic and Hannah Phair of Concordia, 21-11, 21-19 in the opening match and bounced back to win, 21-19, 22-20, over Vanguard's Conley Harris and Morgan Nash in their second contest.

Eliza Cannon and Jameson Sanders nearly pulled out a win against Concordia at No. 3 pairs, but fell to Olivia Highstreet and Hailee Ryan, 24-22, 22-20.

Cal State LA's No. 5 pairs team of Jaden Grova and Ayjah Landers had a tremendous match against Vanguard's Ana Broadhead and Chloe Knudson, but fell in a three-set decision, 8-21, 21-18, 15-11.

Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday, March 22, with matches against CSUN and Colorado Mesa in Northridge, weather permitting.
