Golden Eagles Drop 6-1 Decision To Sagehens

CLAREMONT -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up short Saturday against one of the top teams in the NCAA Division III.

The Golden Eagles dropped the double point and picked up just one win in the singles matches and fell to Pomona-Pitzer, 6-1, at the Pauley Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (1-4) dropped its fourth straight match against top competition, while Pomona-Pitzer (2-2) leveled its record after four matches.

Sarah Olmos continued her strong play and picked up a big win at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 1-6, 10-5, over Pomona-Pitzer's Angie Zhou.

Sakura Kurokawa also had a match go into a third-set tiebreaker, but she fell short at No. 2 singles against Nina Ye, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.

Alexandra Hincu fell at No. 3 singles to Lauren Rha, 6-3, 6-1, Hideka Takamura fell to Amelia Poor, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 singles, Savaughna Mayo fell to Marissa Markey, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 5 singles and Lea Rolland fell to Janie Marcus, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.

Cal State LA will return to action next Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Golden Eagles' home opener against Concordia.
