LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's Nicole Flennaugh had already set new program records for 3-pointers in a game and in a season so it was only logical that at some point she'd set a new career standard.

That point came on Saturday and, most importantly, it came during an important California Collegiate Athletic Association win over Cal Poly Pomona in University Gym. Her third of five 3-pointers in the game lifted her past Kelli Kobayashi, who had held the record of 218 since 2003. It came during a 12-0 run turned a 23-16 deficit into a 28-23 lead.

She added two more for good measure early in the fourth quarter to give her 221 - and counting - and help boost the Golden Eagles' lead to 69-54 in an eventual 86-76 win.

Flennaugh, now in her third year with the program, is having another prolific season and has helped Cal State LA to a 13-6 overall record and a 10-4 conference mark that has the Golden Eagles in a third-place tie with Chico State. She leads the CCAA and is No. 2 in the nation with 3.42 successful 3-pointers per game and her 65 successful 3-pointers this season leads the CCAA and is fifth in the nation.

After making 66 of her 3-point attempts as a freshman in 2019-20, she set a new single-season mark with 90 last season. She also has the single-game record of nine, which she has done twice in regular-season games (once last season at Cal State Monterey Bay and again this season at home against Point Loma) and once in an exhibition win at Pepperdine earlier this season.

Flennaugh is currently third in the CCAA in scoring with 15.8 points per game.

Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday in a big California Collegiate Athletic Association game at San Francisco State.
