IRVINE -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team ran up against some top-notch opponents Saturday at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine.

The Golden Eagles dropped a pair of hard-fought contests, both by scores of 5-0, to Concordia and No. 15 Pepperdine. This came just one day after Cal State LA (2-2) had earned wins in exhibitions against Ventura College and Golden West College.

The going was tough for the Golden Eagles on Saturday against the Eagles (7-1) and Pepperdine (5-0).

Cal State LA will return to action next Saturday against Vanguard and Cal State Northridge at Northridge.
