Cal State LA Athletics

2021: Was on the beach volleyball roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19. Appeared in 14 matches and 28 sets for Cal State LA’s indoor team in the fall. Recorded a service ace in a three-set win at Chico State on Oct. 8. Had a season-high four digs in one set of a win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Nov. 6.

2020: Was part of Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring and competed in two matches at No. 5 pairs. Earned 2020-21 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and also received 2020 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition. Indoor team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Made her Cal State LA debut as a true freshman in the fall. Appeared in two matches. Played one set in a three-set win over Humboldt State on Oct. 18 and in a four-set win at Stanislaus State on Oct. 25. Earned 2019-20 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors.

At Yuba City High School: Was a member of the California Scholarship Federation all eight semesters of high school and was also on the school’s Honor Roll for a 4.0 grade point average for all eight semesters. Earned first-team All-League honors in 2018 and was the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player from 2015-18. Was also the Optimist MVP Northern Selection Libero. Competed in volleyball and track and field in high school.

Personal: Daughter of Philip and Chanta Apodaca. Majoring in natural science. Enjoys trying new food, spending time on the beach, shopping and exploring new places. Lists running as part of her high school’s 4x400 relay team when it qualified to move on to CIF Sectionals. Said the race was under the lights and a little chilly in front of a huge crowd. Says it was a great feeling to have everyone cheer them on along the track. Says she plans on becoming a dermatologist and opening her own practice in the future. Notes she has an older brother named Philip.
