LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team got back on the courts Sunday and picked up a big win over a top-NCAA Division III program.
The Golden Eagles got some clutch play in several tight matches and posted a 5-2 win over Middlebury College of Vermont at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (3-5) was playing for the first time since a win over Marymount on March 9.
The Golden Eagles handed Middlebury (3-1), the No. 10 team in the nation in Division III, its first loss of the season.
Cal State LA won two of the three doubles matches to claim the singles point. 
Berta Acero and 
Sarah Olmos won at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, and the No. 3 doubles team of 
Savaughna Mayo and 
Courtlyn Lam came up big to prevail, 7-6 (7-4) to clinch the point for the Golden Eagles.
Lam also came up big in singles, winning in a three-set battle at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 0-6, 7-5. Cal State LA also got a three-set win at No. 1 singles from 
Noa Davico, who beat Brinlea La Barge, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Cal State LA also got singles wins from 
Sakura Kurokawa, who beat Kavina Amin at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Acero, who beat Caitlin Neal at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Cal State LA will return to action next Saturday with a home match against Concordia at 1:30 p.m.
