LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's track and field team had a small group of student-athletes competing Saturday at the Occidental College Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic.

Xavier Williams and Timothy Mates had the top performances for the Golden Eagles, finishing second and third in the 110 high hurdles. Williams was second with a time of 14.99 and Mates coming in third with a time of 15.12. 

Clifton Johnson ran a season's best time of 49.88 to lead a group of five Golden Eagles in the 400 and Jesus Nichol II was 11th in the 800 with a time of 1:57.10.

Cal State LA will return to action next Saturday at the Franson Classic at Azusa Pacific.
