LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's basketball team was on fire from long-range Thursday in a big win over Bethesda in University Gym.
The Golden Eagles knocked down 16 attempts from 3-point range, including 11 in the first half in a 100-72 victory over the Flames. Cal State LA (2-2) raced out to a big first-half lead for the second game in a row and maintained its edge down the stretch.
Alexander Sokol was just one 3-pointer shy of the program record after going 7-of-12 on his way to 21 points.
Trevor Thompson also had 21 points and was 6-of-8 from 3-point range.
The Golden Eagles were 16-of-30 from 3-point range in the game, including 11-of-19 in the first half. The shooting prowess lifted Cal State LA to a 63-36 halftime lead.
Cal State LA was 35-of-75 for the game (46.7 percent), including 24-of-45 in the first half (53.3 percent). Cal State LA also had a 53-38 rebounding edge and was 14-of-19 from the free-throw line.
Justin Clark had 19 points to lead three Bethesda players in double figures, while Mark Carter added 17 points.
Sokol and Thompson were joined in double figures for Cal State LA by
Elisha Duplechan, who had 17 points, and
Adrease Jackson, who had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Wesley Harris Jr. had eight points and nine rebounds.
Cal State LA will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23, with a home game against Azusa Pacific at 7 p.m.
