The Golden Eagles started the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to take a healthy lead and then hung on for a 58-55 California Collegiate Athletic Association win in the Wolves' Den. Cal State LA (11-16, 9-12 CCAA) won for the second time in its last three games and earned a season split with Sonoma State (15-11, 11-10 CCAA).

The Golden Eagles were 8-of-10 from the free-throw line, while Sonoma State was 4-of-9. Cal State LA enjoyed a 40-34 rebounding edge.

The Golden Eagles trailed after one quarter, 15-9, and fell behind by as many as eight points, 18-10, before making their way back into the game. Flennaugh started the comeback with a 3-pointer and Jolene Robinson made a basket to make it 18-15. After Sonoma State countered with a 3-pointer, Fisher responded with a 3-pointer, Flennaugh made a basket and two free throws, Sydney Bordonaro hit a 3-pointer and Flennaugh made another basket to give the Golden Eagles a 27-21 lead. Sonoma State closed the second quarter with a 9-0 run and grabbed a 30-27 halftime lead.

A pair of free throws by Flennaugh gave the Golden Eagles a 43-42 lead and, after a Sonoma State free throw tied it, Barnes scored a basket to give the Golden Eagles a 45-43 lead heading into the final quarter.

Cal State LA opened the quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers from Flennaugh and Fisher to take a 51-43 lead and Flennaugh hit another 3-pointer to give the Golden Eagles their biggest lead, 56-45, with 5:28 to go. The Golden Eagle offense went silent, though, and Sonoma State scored 10 straight points to pull to within 56-55. Barnes, though, grabbed a rebound, was fouled and hit two free throws with 12 seconds left to push the margin to three points. Sonoma State turned the ball over on its final possession and the Golden Eagles prevailed.
