LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday and honored two four-year players prior to its match against UC San Diego.
Seniors
Elizaveta Sokolova and
Snezana Ivanovic competed at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex for the final time in a 6-3 loss to the Tritons. The Golden Eagles (7-13)Â managed one point in doubles and two points in singles against the Tritons (13-10).
Sokolova, playing at No. 1 singles for the Golden Eagles, played arguably the best match of her career while posting a 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 18 Ashley Chao for a big highlight on Saturday.
In addition,
Isabella Lopez recorded an impressive three-set win over No. 31 Alexandra Weil, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
The Golden Eagles picked up one point in doubles when the team of Lopez and
Amanda Schneider recorded a big 8-5 victory over No. 35 Ashley Chao and Becky Chou.
Schneider, ranked No. 74 in the nation, battled against No. 28 Chou at No. 2 singles before falling in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-7, 10-6.
Cal State LA will return to action in the opening round of the PacWest Championships on Wednesday in Surprise, Ariz.
