Â
San Francisco State shot 58.1 percent in the first half (18-of-31) including a sizzling 9-of-14 from 3-point range to open up its halftime lead. The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, made just 9-of-28 overall (32.1 percent) and only 5-of-16 from 3-point range.
Cal State LA slowed the Gators' long-distance attack in the second half as San Francisco State went just 1-of-11 from behind the arc. Cal State LA was 7-of-13 from 3-point range and 15-of-24 overall in the second half, but couldn't overcome the big deficit.

Jonathan Davis had seven points.
Devin Means hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with six points.
Â
Cal State LA took its only lead on its opening possession when the Golden Eagles controlled the tip and Wilson hit a 3-pointer just eight seconds into the game. San Francisco State scored the next 13 points and led by double-digit margins nearly the entire game. Carter hit the first of his four 3-pointers to stop a 15-6 run and make it 28-13, but the Gators outscored the Golden Eagles, 24-13, over the remaining 10 minutes of the half to take their 52-26 halftime lead.
Â
Cal State LA made a strong push in the second half and a three-point play by Evans-Taylor cut the deficit to 69-54, with 10 minutes to go. A pair of free throws by Wilson made it 71-56, with 7:50 remaining. A 3-pointer by Carter sliced the deficit to 80-66 with 3:12 to go, but that's as close as Cal State LA would get.
Â
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday with a home game against Cal Poly Pomona.
