LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's basketball team was firing on all cylinders Friday night in a big California Collegiate Athletic Association win over crosstown rival Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Golden Eagles hit 14-of-22 attempts from 3-point range and beat the Toros, 86-60, in University Gym. Cal State LA (6-5, 2-1 CCAA) won for the third time in its last four games and scored more than 80 points for the fifth time already this season.

Roderick Evans-Taylor led a balanced attack with 16 points and made all four of his 3-pointers.
Travis Hammonds finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists and
Jordan Wilson had 10 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Cal State LA also had one of its better defensive efforts of the season, limiting Cal State Dominguez Hills to just 28.1 percent shooting. The Toros were just 2-of-17 from 3-point range. Vincent Golson had 19 points to lead three Toros in double figures. Khalil Bedart-Ghani had 13 points and Justin Sadler had an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double.

Cal State LA opened up a 36-23 halftime lead and then broke the game open in the second half, outscoring the Toros, 50-37. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 31 points in the second half.

Evans-Taylor led the 3-point barrage and eight Golden Eagles hit 3-pointers in the contest. Evans-Taylor had four, Wilson, Hammonds and
Devin Means hit two each and
Miles Ford,
Jordan Nelson-Brown,
Garrett Carter and
Grant Arthur also hit from distance.

Cal State LA shot exceptionally well in the second half, making 16-of-30 overall (53.3 percent), 8-of-12 from 3-point range (66.7 percent) and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line (83.3 percent).

The Golden Eagles led by just three points, 14-11, after 10 minutes of play, but began heating up before halftime. A three-point play by
Jonathan Davis gave the Golden Eagles their first double-digit lead at 23-12 and a 3-pointer by Evans-Taylor gave Cal State LA a 36-23 halftime lead.

Evans-Taylor hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Golden Eagles a 46-28 lead and the lead ballooned to 30 points, 65-35, after a 3-pointer by Nelson-Brown with 10 minutes to play. The Golden Eagles' got their biggest lead, 86-55, after a pair of free throws by Arthur.
