CHICO – Cal State LA's women's soccer team saw its shutout streak and unbeaten string come to an end in an overtime loss to Chico State Friday night.
The Golden Eagles lost for the first time in California Collegiate Athletic Association play this season when Chico State erased a 1-0 deficit and rallied for a 2-1 win. The Wildcats got the tying goal in the 62
nd minute and the game-winner in the 94
th minute.
Cal State LA (6-3-2, 5-1 CCAA) is currently in a three-way tie atop the conference standings with 15 points, although UC San Diego remains unbeaten at 5-0 and has an extra game remaining.
Chico State (5-6-1, 1-6 CCAA) finally saw some good fortune after a string of hard-luck losses in conference play.

Adriana Maldonado had an outstanding match for the Golden Eagles and tied a career-high with 12 saves. Caitlyn Duval was also tested for Chico State and made six saves.
Cal State LA took a 1-0 lead in the 22
nd minute when Marie Lou Larose scored her second goal of the season with an assist from
Zarette Munoz-Aguilar. Larose was able to hit a shot from just outside the box inside the far post for the go-ahead goal.
The Golden Eagles, despite being outshot, 11-2, in the first half, maintained their edge going into halftime.
Chico State, though, tied it in the 62
nd minute when Lindsey Dias headed in a corner from Korie Bozart just inside the post for her third goal of the season.
The game-winner came less than four minutes into overtime. Emily Shleppey took a free kick from about 50 yards out that bounced once, took a touch off a defender's head in a big crowd in front the goal and went in.

Victoria Arredondo each had two shots for the Golden Eagles. Arredondo had a couple chances from in close in the second half, one that was saved by Duval and the other that went high.
Chico State had a 22-10 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
Cal State LA will return to action on Friday with a match at No. 8 UC San Diego.
