Box Score ROHNERT PARK -- Cal State L.A.'s men's basketball team was good when it counted Friday night in a big California Collegiate Athletic Association road victory over Sonoma State.

The Golden Eagles scored the last nine points of the game to beat the Seawolves, 62-53, in the Wolves' Den. Cal State L.A. (7-4, 4-3 CCAA) got a huge steal and layup from Joshua Munzon to highlight the game-closing run. Munzon's big play gave the Golden Eagles a 56-53 lead in the final minute and Sonoma State (5-6, 3-4 CCAA) was blanked the rest of the way.

The Golden Eagles were extremely efficient in the second half, making 55.6 percent of their shots (10-of-18) and sinking 17-of-20 free-throw attempts, including all six in the final minute. Sonoma State, meanwhile, was just 11-of-24 from the floor in the second half and made only 2-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Cal State L.A. was 24-of-28 from the free-throw line in the game.

The Golden Eagles fell into an early 11-2 hole, but a basket by Camper and a seal and dunk by Trimble got the Golden Eagles untracked. Cal State L.A. still trailed, 15-8, when two free throws by Camper, a three-point play by Camper and a layup by Munzon tied the game. The Golden Eagles took their first lead at 19-17 on a layup by Tillman.

Sonoma State received three free throws to end the first half and took a 28-25 halftime lead.

Neither team could manage more than a four-point lead in the second half until the Golden Eagles' late surge. Cal State L.A. managed a 40-36 lead after two free throws by Camper, but Sonoma State fought back and took its final lead at 45-44. Two free throws by Quinton Watkins put the Golden Eagles ahead, 46-45, with six minutes left and Cal State L.A. never trailed again.

The game was tied three more times before the Golden Eagles eventually took control. After a dunk by Richard off an assist from Trimble put the Golden Eagles ahead, 53-51, the Seawolves tied it for the final time. Trimble hit a go-ahead free throw to make it 54-53, setting the stage for Munzon. The talented freshman made a steal and layup to give the Golden Eagles a 56-53 edge with 58 seconds to go. After a Sonoma State miss, Trimble made two free throws to make it 58-53. Another Sonoma State miss resulted in a rebound by Singer and two more free throws for Munzon.
