WALNUT CREEK – Cal State L.A.'s senior guard
Franklin Session and senior forward
David Norris have both been named to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association team, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Session earned first-team honors, while Norris was named to the second team in voting done by the conference coaches.
Humboldt State's Brian Morris was named the CCAA Most Valuable Player, while Randy Hunter of Humboldt State was named the Newcomer of the Year. James McCann of UC San Diego was named the Freshman of the Year and Humboldt State's Steve Kinder was the conference Coach of the Year.
Session leads the Golden Eagles in scoring and is third in the conference with 16.6 points per game. He is also second on the team and fourth in the conference in rebounding with 7.6 rebounds per game and he leads the conference in steals with 2.6 per game.
Norris is second on the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game and leads the team and is second in the conference in rebounding with 8.1 per game.
Session was joined on the first team by Cal State Monterey Bay's Davion Berry, Corey Gaston of Cal State San Bernardino, Marquintice Davis of Cal State Dominguez Hills, Dwayne Fells of Cal Poly Pomona, Marquel Hoskins of San Francisco State, Randy Hunter of Humboldt State, Reggie Jones of Cal State Stanislaus, Brian Morris of Humboldt State and Nefi Perdomo of San Francisco State.
Norris was joined on the second team by Michael Cox of Cal State Dominguez Hills, Jay Flores of Chico State, Christian Hatch of UC San Diego, Roderick Hawkins of Chico State, Theron Laudermill of Cal State San Bernardino, Kevin Menner of Cal Poly Pomona, Steven Pratt of Sonoma State, Casey Ryan of UC San Diego and Brandon Sperling of Humboldt State.
Cal State L.A. is 15-12 overall and coming off the first CCAA Tournament victory in the program's history, a 66-60 victory over Cal State San Bernardino on Tuesday in San Bernardino. The Golden Eagles were 0-6 in six previous trips to the conference tourney, including first-round defeats in 2008 and 2010.
The Golden Eagles will face No. 1 seed Humboldt State in a semi-final game at Cal State East Bay on Friday at 3 p.m.
