Cal State LA Athletics

2022: Was a contributor for the NCAA Division II West Region and California Collegiate Athletic Association champions in her final year with the program. Appeared in 12 matches and 16 sets for the Golden Eagles. Had 10 digs and three set assists. Had two digs in wins at Cal State East Bay on Sept. 17, at Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 1 and against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 7. Earned 2022 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll honors. For her career, appeared in 28 matches and 46 sets. Had 24 digs, five set assists and one service ace.

2021: Appeared in 14 matches and 28 sets for Cal State LA’s indoor team in the fall. Recorded a service ace in a three-set win at Chico State on Oct. 8. Had a season-high four digs in one set of a win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Nov. 6. Also competed for the beach volleyball team in the spring (2022). Played in nine matches at No. 5 pairs. Earned 2021-22 CCAA All-Academic honors and 2021 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2020: Earned 2020-21 CCAA All-Academic honors and also received 2020 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition. Team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Made her Cal State LA debut as a true freshman in the fall. Appeared in two matches. Played one set in a three-set win over Humboldt State on Oct. 18 and in a four-set win at Stanislaus State on Oct. 25. Was part of Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring (2020) and competed in two matches at No. 5 pairs. Earned 2019-20 CCAA All-Academic honors.

At Yuba City High School: Was a member of the California Scholarship Federation all eight semesters of high school and was also on the school’s Honor Roll for a 4.0 grade point average for all eight semesters. Earned first-team All-League honors in 2018 and was the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player from 2015-18. Was also the Optimist MVP Northern Selection Libero. Competed in volleyball and track and field in high school.

Personal: Daughter of Phil and Chanta Apodaca. Majoring in biology. Enjoys yoga, cooking, and hiking. Lists beating Cal State San Bernardino at the NCAA Tournament as her most exciting experience in sports. Says she plans on becoming a dermatologist and opening her own practice in the future. Notes she has an older brother named Philip.
