Summary

Biography

At Cal State L.A.: Will be making her tennis debut after completing a brilliant four-year soccer career with the Golden Eagles. Became Cal State L.A.’s first All-American in women’s soccer in 2009 and was the California Collegiate Athletic Association and Daktronics West Region Player of the Year. Led Cal State L.A. to its first-ever CCAA championship. Earned the Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.’s top female athlete. Earned her second All-America award in 2010 while leading Cal State L.A. to a second straight CCAA South Division title. Also earned first-team All-CCAA and first-team All-West Region honors. Finished as the program’s all-time leader in points (104) and assists (40) and No. 2 in goals (32). Also set a new career assists record in the CCAA.
 
At El Camino High School: Played three years of varsity tennis and was the team’s Most Valuable Player and team captain as a senior. Was also the team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore. Helped her team qualify for the CIF Tournament in 2007 for the first time in the school’s history. Was also a four-year varsity player in soccer. Earned first-team All-Avocado League honors as a junior and senior and second-team honors as a freshman and sophomore. Was the team Most Valuable Player as a senior, the Best Offensive Player as a junior and received the Coaches’ Award as a sophomore and freshman. Earned student-athlete honors award as a senior.
 
Personal: Daughter of Juan Sanchez and Rosa Franco. Majoring in communications. Enjoys Sudoku, hiking, road trips, tennis, reading and music. Lists meeting amazing soccer players along the way as her most exciting experience in sports. Thanks God and her family for giving her strength and support throughout her soccer career. Club soccer team won a state cup championship in 2006, was a State Cup finalist in 2007 and a National Cup finalist in 2008.
