Cal State LA Athletics

2020: Earned 2020-21 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and also received 2020 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition for cross country and 2021 CCAA Spring Honor Roll recognition for track and field (2021). Team did not compete due to COVID-19 in his final year with the program.

2019: Joined Cal State LA’s cross country program in the fall. Competed in four races. Had a best time of 29:29.9 over 8,000 meters while finishing 227^th in a huge field at the Master’s Invitational on Sept. 28. Was on Cal State LA’s track and field roster, but did not compete in any meets (2020). Earned a 2019 California Collegiate Athletic Association Fall All-Academic Award and a 2020 CCAA Spring All-Academic Award.

At East Los Angeles College: Earned an All-State Academic Award.

At Montebello High School: Earned first-team All-Almont League honors in cross country in 2014 and 2015. Earned first-team Almont League honors in track and field in 2015-16.

Personal: Son of Steve Rangel and Cynthia Villalobos. Majoring in Kinesiology. Lists going to the beach, hanging out with friends, community service and walking his dog Hachi. Lists going to CIF in cross country and track and field, winning the two-mile league championship and racing at the San Gabriel Valley Championships as his most exciting experiences in sports.
