Summary

Biography

2023: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Was one of only three runners to compete in all six meets. Had a best 8,000-meter time of 29:16.6 at the UCR Highlander Classic on Oct. 14. Placed 78th at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with an 8,000-meter time of 30:49.1. Also finished 154th at the NCAA West Regionals with a 10,000-meter time of 39:03.9. Competed for a second straight season for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2024). Had best times of 25.23 in the 200 meters, 56.19 in the 400 and 19:15.19 in the 5,000. Finished 19th in the 400 at the CCAA Championships. An outstanding student, earned a 2023-24 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. Also earned 2023-24 CCAA All-Academic honors, 2023 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition, and 2024 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2022: Competed for Cal State LA’s track and field team in the spring (2023). Competed in 10 meets for the Golden Eagles, running in the 800, 1,500, 5,000 and 4x400 relay. Had best marks of 2:05.09 in the 800 and 4:34.51 in the 1,500 and 17:58.02 in the 5,000. Earned Dean’s List honors. Also earned 2023 CCAA Spring Honor recognition and a 2022-23 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

At Cal State San Marcos: Earned D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award and CCAA All-Academic honors. Competed in eight cross country races for the Cougars and had a best time of 9:45.15 in the 3,000 meters in track and field. Was on the Dean’s List from 2019-22. Earned CCAA All-Academic honors in 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22. Was a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar and a Cal-Bridge Scholar.

At Escondido High School: Earned MVP honors for the cross country team. Finished second in the league in the 800. Was on the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team. Received a Rotary Scholarship. Attended a Youth Citizenship Seminar at Pepperdine. Competed in cross country, soccer and track and field.

Personal: Son of David and Laura Bonds. Majoring in math with a minor in computer science. Enjoys playing the piano, trumpet, guitar and singing. In the off-season, enjoys playing pick-up basketball and soccer. Lists being named the 2020 CCAA Men’s Cross Country Championships Scholar as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he played for the Escondido Soccer Club from 2016-18.
