Biography

2022-23: Had another spectacular season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors after a record-breaking season for the Golden Eagles. Set a new program single-season record with 84 successful 3-pointers and finished his career just one 3-pointer shy of the program record with 152. Set a new program record for career free-throw percentage after making 151-of-182 for an .830 percentage. Led the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game. Also averaged 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Was the only player to start all 28 games for the Golden Eagles and led the team with 997 minutes played. Had a season-high 23 points in back-to-back games against Cal State East Bay (1-21-23) and Cal State San Bernardino (1-26-23). Was 7-of-14 from the floor, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range against the Pioneers and followed that up by hitting all 10 of his free-throw attempts against the Coyotes. Was 5-of-11 from the floor and 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Posted his third straight 20-point game when he poured in 21 while playing all 40 minutes in a 68-61 win against Cal Poly Pomona (1-28-23). Made 25 consecutive free throws over a stretch of six games from Jan. 26 – Feb. 11. Made at least one 3-pointer in 27 of 28 games. Reached double figures in scoring in 22 of 28 games, including 21 of the last 22 games. Scored 20 or more points four times. For his career, appeared in 49 games with 47 starts. Played a total of 1,638 minutes. Averaged 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Finished his career No. 2 in program history in 3-pointers made with 152 and No. 1 in free-throw percentage at .830 (152-of-181).

2021-22: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his first year on the court with the program. Earned All-CCAA honorable mention recognition. Was second on the team and sixth in the conference in scoring with 15.3 points per game. Also averaged 4.8 rebounds per game. Led the team with 68 successful 3-pointers and was one of the top shooters in the conference. Was second in the CCAA in 3-pointers per game (3.2) and third in 3-point field goal percentage (.420). Was also third in the conference in free-throw percentage after making 61-of-70 for 87.1 percent. Set a new Cal State LA single-game record with nine 3-pointers in an 86-62 win at Sonoma State (2-26-22). Scored a season-high 29 points and had five rebounds in the win. Also had 26 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in an 88-82 win over Sonoma State (1-6-22). Had 25 points against Cal State San Bernardino (2-12-22). Appeared in 21 games with 19 starts. Played a team-high 641 minutes. Made his Cal State LA debut and his first start against Biola (11-12-21). Scored 11 points. Reached double figures in scoring in 17 games and scored 20 or more points five times. Had two double-doubles. Earned 2021-22 CCAA Winter Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2020-21: Earned CCAA 2020-21 Winter Academic Honor Roll recognition. Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Cal State Northridge: Earned All-Academic honors in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Appeared in 14 games over two years. Averaged 1.6 points and 10.1 minutes per game as a sophomore. Hit a 3-pointer and had a season-high five points against New Mexico (11-6-18). Also hit a 3-pointer and had two assists at Loyola Marymount (11-13-18).

At Valley Christian High School: Earned All-League honors as a junior and senior and led his team to a section championship as a senior. Led the state in scoring through pre-season games as a senior, averaging 31 points per game. Was the team Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior. Ranked in the top-five all-time in the WCAL career 3-pointers made.

Personal: Son of Steve and Leslie Sokol. Graduated with a degree in communications and is pursuing a Master’s degree in business administration. Enjoys going to the movies, eating, going to the beach, traveling, playing 2K, listening to music, swimming and biking. Lists playing in the CCS Finals at Santa Clara in high school as it was his school’s first time reaching the finals in 10 years, playing his first college game at Cal-Berkeley in front of friends and family and competing in the Drew League as well as playing for the Metta World Peace team as his most exciting experiences in sports.
