Cal State LA Athletics

2014-15: Had a strong second season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 22 games and started 17 times. Played a total of 463 minutes. Averaged 5.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Shared the team lead in blocks with 14. Had a career-high 16 points and five rebounds in a 70-59 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills (11-29-14). Also had 14 points and six rebounds at Humboldt State (1-3-15). Had a season-high seven rebounds at Cal Poly Pomona (2-20-15). Reached double figures in scoring four times. For his career, appeared in 48 games and started 41 times. Played a total of 1,046 minutes. Averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

2013-14: Made a big impact with the program in his first season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 26 games and started 24 times. Averaged 4.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Was second on the team in free-throw shooting percentage (75.7 percent). Was fifth on the team in scoring and second in rebounding. Got his first career start for Cal State L.A. and had four points and five rebounds in a win over Cal State Dominguez Hills (11-30-13). Had a season-high 12 points and 10 rebounds in a win at Cal State Monterey Bay (12-6-13). Had a second double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes in a win over Pacifica University (12-17-13).

At Southern University: Played in 14 games and was with the team when it made an NCAA Tournament appearance against top-seeded Gonzaga. Averaged 1.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

At Lower Columbia Junior College: Was the conference Co-Freshman of the Year and earned first-team All-Conference honors after averaging 16.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

At Hesperia High School: Was named the school’s Athlete of the Year. Competed in basketball, football and track and field. Earned first-team All-League honors in football and basketball.

Personal: Son of Alfred Alston and Charlotte Mathews. Majoring in fire technology. Enjoys bowling, fishing and music. Lists Southern University’s NCAA Tournament appearance as his most exciting experience in sports.
