Summary

Biography

2019: Made a successful return to the field in her final year with the program. Scored one of the biggest goals of the season, the lone goal in a 1-0 win at Humboldt State on Nov. 9 that clinched a California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament bid for the Golden Eagles. Also started the game-winning play in a big non-conference victory over Western Washington, making a strong run toward the goal and sending a pass to Anahie Duran that resulted in the lone goal in a 1-0 win in overtime. Appeared in 17 games with one start and played a total of 538 minutes. Made her first start since Sept. 15, 2017 against UC San Diego on Nov. 2. For her career, appeared in 22 games with six starts. Played a total of 1,146 minutes. Had one goal and one assist for three points.
 
2018: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles after continuing her recovery from a prior injury.

2017: Was on her way to a sensational season when she suffered a season-ending injury in the fifth game of the season at Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 15. Started Cal State LA’s first five games and was a key part of the Golden Eagles’ defense until the injury. Recorded an assist on Cal State LA’s only goal in a 1-1 tie at Point Loma on Sept. 12.

At Chaffey College: Earned first-team All-League and first-team All-Region honors as a sophomore. Earned second-team All-League recognition as a freshman.

At Colony High School: Competed in soccer, basketball, cross country and track and field. Earned first-team All-League honors and was a League Most Valuable Player in soccer. Was a two-time league MVP and a three-year state qualifier in cross country. Earned first-team All-League honors and was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in basketball.

Personal: Daughter of Mario and Edith Yep and Ruben Mares. Earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies at UC Riverside and is pursuing her Master’s degree in sociology at Cal State LA. Enjoys playing sports, camping and being outdoors. Lists being a three-year state qualifier in cross country in high school and being selected for first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Region honors as a sophomore at Chaffey College as her most exciting experiences in sports.
