Biography

2021: Had another fantastic season for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the program. Earned American Volleyball Coaches Association second-team All-America honors for the first time in her career after earning All-America honorable mention twice before. She became the second player in program history to earn AVCA All-America recognition three times. Earned AVCA All-West Region honors for a third straight year and earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a fourth straight season, becoming only the second player in program history to accomplish each of those feats. Was named to the NCAA West Regional All-Tournament and CCAA All-Tournament teams. Led the team once again with 412 kills, 458.5 points and 38 service aces. Was also second on the team in digs with 376. Was second in the conference in kills and points. Appeared in 30 matches and 112 sets. Had a season-high 26 kills at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 30. Reached 20 or more kills five times and reached double figures in kills 24 times. Had a season-high 24 digs against Simon Fraser on Sept. 3. Reached double figures in digs 21 times. Had 20 double-doubles. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for a fifth time when she was awarded for the week of Sept. 6-12. Led the Golden Eagles to a 4-0 record and was the tournament Most Valuable Player at the Nanook Classic in Alaska. Received Cal State LA’s Billie Jean King Award as the department’s outstanding female athlete for a second time in 2021-22. For her career, appeared in 111 matches and 416 sets. Had 1,478 kills, 1,672.5 points, 149 service aces and 1,379 digs. Finished her career No. 4 all-time in kills, aces and digs.

2020: Team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Had a third tremendous season for the Golden Eagles and earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention for a second straight season. Also received first-team AVCA All-West Region honors for a second straight year. Led the team in kills with 321, digs with 368, service aces with 48 and points with 383. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a third straight year. Was second in the conference in aces and 10th in points. Reached double figures in kills 16 times and in digs 21 times. Had a season-high 23 kills and 19 digs in a five-set match against Central Washington on Sept. 12. Also had 22 kills and 16 digs in a five-set win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 28. Had a career-high 25 digs in a five-set win over San Francisco State in an opening-round CCAA Tournament match on Nov. 21. Named to the CCAA All-Tournament team after helping the Golden Eagles reach the conference tournament final for the first time. Was part of Cal State LA's No. 1 pairs in beach volleyball in the spring (2020) and had a 3-3 record with Alejandra Negron. Received Cal State LA’s Billie Jean King Award as the department’s outstanding female athlete for 2019-20.

2018: Had a sensational sophomore season for the Golden Eagles and earned AVCA All-America honorable mention. Also received first-team All-West Region honors from the AVCA and second-team All-West Region recognition from the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a second straight year. Led the team and was third in the CCAA with 383 kills and 3.83 kills per set. Was also second on the team with 31 service aces and 312 digs. Reached double figures in kills 20 times and in digs 21 times. Had 20 or more kills in seven matches. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for the third time in her career for the week of Aug. 20-26 when she was named the tournament MVP at Concordia-Irvine. Had a season-high 26 kills and 13 digs in a five-set win at UC San Diego on Sept. 25. Had a season-high 22 digs to go along with 21 kills at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 26. Had 24 kills and 20 digs against Central Washington in an NCAA playoff match on Nov. 15. Was part of Cal State LA’s No. 1 pairs in beach volleyball along with Alejandra Negron and compiled a 10-1 record over the last 11 matches (2019).

2017: Had a tremendous first season with Cal State LA. Was named the AVCA West Region and CCAA Freshman of the Year. Became only the second player in program history to earn the West Region Freshman of the Year award and the third to earn the CCAA Freshman of the Year honor. Earned first-team All-CCAA honors. Was named Cal State LA’s Female Rookie of the Year. Led the team and was second in the CCAA in kills with 362. Also led the team with 32 service aces and was second in digs with 313. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors twice. Was honored first after a sensational 30-kill, 26-dig performance at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 23 that led the Golden Eagles to a come-from-behind five-set win. The 30 kills are No. 4 all-time for a single match at Cal State LA. Earned the weekly honor again on the final week of the regular season after leading the Golden Eagles to wins over Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego on Nov. 10 and 11 that got the Golden Eagles into the postseason. Had 35 kills and 28 digs in seven sets for the week. Was on Cal State LA’s No. 1 beach volleyball pair with Alejandra Negron in the spring (2018).

At Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas: Earned the Most Valuable Player award in high school. Was the Player of the Year in Puerto Rico in 2015 and was among the top three best attackers on the 2015 U20 Puerto Rican World Cup team.

Personal: Daughter of Jose Santos and Norma Perez. Majoring in biology. Enjoys hiking, riding horses, going to the beach, visiting different places and watching Netflix. Lists playing for the Puerto Rico national team and participating in the NCAA Tournament as her most exciting experiences in sports.
