Cal State LA Athletics

2022: Had an outstanding season in her final year with the program. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association second-team honors as part of the 4x100 relay team that placed second in the conference. Also finished fourth as part of the 4x400 relay team. Placed eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.77 and was 14^th in the 200 with a time of 26.28. Had best marks of 25.53 in the 200, 58.38 in the 400 and 2:29.20 in the 800. Also competed well for the Golden Eagles in indoor track. Had best marks of 26.55 in the 200 and 60.04 in the 400. Was Cal State LA’s female recipient of the 2021-22 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Award, an award presented by the California Collegiate Athletic Association for exemplary commitment to athletic and academic pursuits. For her career, had best marks of 25.53 in the 200, 58.38 in the 400 and 2:29.20 in the 800 in outdoor track and 8.54 in the 60, 26.55 in the 200 and 59.79 in the 400.

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19. Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Had a best time of 27:47.8 over 6,000 meters. Finished 86^th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships and 168^th at the NCAA West Region Championships. Consistently placed on the team’s top-five and was one of only three runners to compete in all six meets for the Golden Eagles.

2020: Was off to a strong start in the shortened outdoor track and field season. Had best marks of 25.90 in the 200 meters and 59.97 in the 400. Also had a career-best time of 59.79 in the 400 in indoor track. Was part of the 4x400 relay team that had a best mark of 3:57.34. That time is No. 8 all-time at Cal State LA.

2019: Ran well in the spring in her second season with the track and field team. Was part of a 4x400 relay team that placed fourth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. Also took 15^th in the 400. Had best times of 26.63 in the 200 and 59.15 in the 400. Had best times of 8.54 in the 60, 26.93 in the 200 and 61.50 in the 400 in indoor track. Competed in two races in the fall with Cal State LA’s cross country team. Had a best time of 22:33.59 over 5,000 meters at the Coyote Classic on Sept. 21.

2018: Began her track and field career at Cal State LA in the spring. Had best times of 27.25 in the 200 meters and 60.48 in the 400 in outdoor track and field. Had a best time of 8.64 in the 60 meters in indoor track. Competed in five events in her first year with Cal State LA’s cross country program in the fall. Finished 105^th at the CCAA Championships with a time of 31:00.5 over 6,000 meters.

At Peachtree Ridge HS: Was on a team that won the region championship three years in a row. Also competed in soccer.

Personal: Daughter of Derrick Braden and Shetera Oats. Majoring in biology. Enjoys going to the beach, eating good food and hanging out with friends. Lists going to Ghana, Africa on vacation, finding a track meet to compete in and winning the race when she was 11 years old as her most exciting experience in sports.
