Cal State LA Athletics

2019: Concluded an incredible four-year career that was marked by tremendous resiliency. Appeared in all 18 games with 15 starts. Played a total of 1,063 minutes, which was fifth on the team. Recorded one assist on a goal by Natalie Reynoso in a 5-0 win at San Francisco State on Nov. 7. For her career, appeared in 65 games and started 57 times. Played a total of 3,857 minutes. Had one goal and two assists for a total of four points.

2018: Was a key player for the Golden Eagles once again in her third year with the program. Started all 18 games and played a total of 1,194 minutes. Had one assist and one point for the Golden Eagles. Got the assist with a corner kick on a goal by Adyson Willett in a 2-1 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 27. 

2017: Returned from a serious medical situation at the end of the 2016 season and was a main contributor in her second season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 11 games and started nine times. Made her return after missing the first six games of the season and played 29 minutes in a 1-0 win over Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 22 and then made her first start of the year against UC San Diego on Oct. 24.

2016: Had an encouraging freshman season for the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 18 games and started 15 times. Scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 30. Made her first collegiate appearance and start in a 2-1 win over Saint Martin’s on Sept. 1. Played a total of 1,211 minutes.

At Bloomington High School: Was the school’s Athlete of the Year and was on the Honor Roll all four years in high school. Also earned a Bilingual award for foreign language all four years of Spanish.

Personal: Daughter of Joe and Martha Mendez. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys soccer, going to the gym, hanging out with friends and dancing. Lists winning a Gold Medal at the Mexican Junior Olympics as her most exciting experiences in sports. Notes she is an aneurysm survivor. Has been named the team’s Most Inspirational Player twice.
