Biography

2014: Had a fourth outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and finished her career as the all-time program leader for digs with 1,606. Led the team for a fourth straight season digs with 405. Appeared in 25 matches and 97 sets. Recorded 31 digs and broke the program record for career digs at Cal State San Bernardino on Nov. 13. Reached double figures in digs in 23 matches and had 20 or more digs six times. Also had 77 assists and four service aces. For her career, appeared in 106 matches and 398 sets. Had 1,606 digs, 288 set assists and 42 aces.

2013: Had a third consecutive sensational season for the Golden Eagles. Led the team in digs with 432 despite missing five matches because of injury. Cal State L.A. was 0-5 in those matches. Had a tremendous defensive match and posted a career-high 32 digs in a five-set win at UC San Diego on Oct. 19. The 32 digs are No. 4 all-time on Cal State L.A.’s single-match list. Also had 30 digs in a four-set win over UC San Diego on Nov. 22. Recorded double figures in digs in 19 of 25 matches, including her last 15 of the season. Was one of two Cal State L.A. recipients of the 2012-13 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award from the CCAA for academic and athletic accomplishments. Also earned the team’s Scholar-Athlete Award.

2012: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles. Led the team with 437 digs, which is the sixth-highest single-season total in the program’s history. Recorded 30 digs in a five-set win at Cal State Stanislaus on Oct. 12 and in a four-set win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Nov. 7. Recorded double-figure dig totals in 23 of 30 matches. Was third on the team in service aces with 21, including a career-high four in a five-set win over Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 10. Also competed for Cal State L.A.’s track and field team in the spring (2013) and ran in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. Was Cal State L.A.’s female recipient of the Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award presented by the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

2011: Had a strong season for the Golden Eagles in her first year with the program. Was named the team’s Most Valuable Defensive Player and also earned a CCAA All-Academic Award. Led the team with 332 digs and also contributed 11 service aces. Had a season-high 19 digs in a three-set win over Western Oregon on Sept. 3. Also had 18 digs in the season finale at Chico State on Nov. 11. Reached double figures in digs in 21 of 26 matches.

At La Serna High School: Was the Del Rio League Most Valuable Player as a senior and also earned All-San Gabriel Valley first-team honors.  Team won three consecutive league championships while going undefeated and reached the CIF quarterfinals in 2009-10. Was on the school’s Honor Roll in 2009-10 and was on the President’s List and Spanish Honor Society in 2010-11. Competed in volleyball and track and field in high school.

Personal: Daughter of Tony and Sara Reyes. Majoring in biology. Enjoys hiking, indoor rock climbing and going to concerts. Lists competing in the CIF quarterfinals two years in a row, going to Junior Olympics in 2009 and running in her first 400 meter race at Cal State L.A. as her most exciting experiences in sports. Says the 400 was nerve-wracking, exciting and painful.
