LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up short against Menlo College on a hot day on the courts.
The short-handed Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point despite a win at No. 2 doubles from
Maldini Simic and
Macy Hinds and also lost the four singles matches in completed in a 5-0 loss to Menlo on Monday. Cal State LA (1-6) fell in straight sets in all four of the completed singles matches.
The bright spot came at No. 2 doubles where Simic and Hinds beat Yousra Hidass and Gloria Jovic, 6-2. Menlo (7-3), though, took the No. 1 doubles match when Zofia Dziewiecka and Livia Harper beat
Mane Sargsyan and
Georgiana Parr, 6-2, and the No. 3 doubles team of Nia Macay and Polya Nikolova beat Cal State LA's
Ainoho Salo and
Charlotte Downs, 6-0.
In singles, Parr lost to Hidass, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, Sargsyan fell to Harper at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1, Downs fell to Jovic, 6-0, 6-0 and Hinds fell to Ombeline Robilliart at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1. The other two singles contests were not completed when the match was decided.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday at Point Loma.Â
