Golden Eagles Take Fourth In San Marcos Tourney

VISTA -- Cal State LA's women's golf team put in an early bid for second place at the Fujikura Invitational hosted by Cal State San Marcos.

The Golden Eagles, after sitting in third place to start the day, pulled into second place in the early portions of the third and final round before winding up fourth place in a field of 13 teams. Cal State LA has finished in the top-four in all seven events in the 2025-26 season, including top-three finishes in its first six tournaments.

No. 38 Cal State LA finished with a final round of 301 to give it a 54-hole total of 910. Tournament host Cal State San Marcos won the event with a 54-hole total of 881. The Cougars, ranked 16th in the nation, shot a final-round of 293. Simon Fraser was second with a total of 899 and Cal State Monterey Bay finished third, four shots ahead of Cal State LA, with a score of 906.

Rilee Crosby had her best finish of the season after finishing in a tie for third place after a final-round 73 gave her a 54-hole score of 222. She got to within one shot of  the lead after starting the day with an eagle on the par-5 first hole and she also had a birdie on the par-5 seventh hole. Crosby was 2-under-par through 13 holes on Tuesday.

Daniela Andrade had four birdies in eight holes and was even-par on her round through 16 holes before a tough finish left her in a tie for 18th with a 54-hole score of 229. She shot a round of 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday.

Joshlyn Ayala had a rough start and was 7-over-par on her front nine before bouncing back with two birdies and a 1-under-par score over the back nine. She shot a final round of 78 and finished in a tie for 22nd at 230.

Talia Gutman had one birdie on her round and shot a 6-over-par 78 to finish in a  tie for 29th at 232.

Sarah Amaya had her best round of the tournament with a solid 3-over-par 75 that was tied for second on the team on Tuesday and featured 15 pars and three bogeys. She finished 51st with a score of 243.

Cal State LA will return to action at the Patriot Invitational, hosted by Dallas Baptist, at the Quail Golf Club in Carmel starting on Monday.
