PUEBLO, COLORADO -- Cal State LA's
Jonon Young completed an outstanding season with another All-American performance on Saturday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Young placed eighth in the triple jump to record her second All-American finish this week and her third this year. She was sixth in the long jump earlier this week and placed fifth in the triple jump during the indoor season.
Young, who captured long jump and triple jump titles at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships earlier this month for the second straight year, recorded a season's best mark of 42-0.50 to finish eighth on Saturday at the Colorado State-Pueblo Thunderbowl. She was ninth after the opening round of three jumps to earn three additional jumps and she moved up a spot on her fourth attempt with her 42-0.50 effort.
"The schedule for the final day of the championships was changed because of an incoming thunderstorm," Cal State LA head coach
Tina Fernandes said. "We are so proud of Jonon (JoJo) Young. Although she was sick throughout the national championships;, she was able to earn two more All-American awards."
Young picked up one point for her eighth-place finish and accounted for all four of Cal State LA's points. The Golden Eagles finished in a tie for 45th with the four points.
Young has earned seven All-America awards in her two seasons with the Golden Eagles, including the 2024 NCAA Division II indoor triple jump championship.
