PUEBLO, COLORADO -- Cal State LA's Jonon Young added to her incredible All-America tally with a top finish Thursday in the long jump on Day 1 of the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Young came up clutch on her third attempt to move into the top nine and earn three additional jumps, which she then took advantage of to move into sixth place at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl. Young, who had the No. 4 qualifying mark in the long jump entering the championships, earned All-America honors for a second straight season in the outdoor long jump. She was second in the nation last year.

Young, who won both the long jump and triple jump titles at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships earlier this month, was in 12th place after two jumps on Thursday before a mark of 19-8.25 on her third jump lifted her into ninth place and earned her another three attempts.

On her fifth attempt, she had her best mark of the day at 20-0.25 that moved her into sixth. She repeated that mark on her sixth and final jump.

Denise Hernandez of Lewis won the national title in the long jump with a mark of 21-0. Alaina Diaz of Grand Valley State was second at 20-10.75 and Jasmyn Crawford of Concordia was third at 20-8. Jodian Stewart of Eastern New Mexico was fourth at 20-7.75 and Makayla Watson of Pittsburg State was fifth at 20-6.50.

After earning an All-American award in indoor track in the triple jump with a fifth-place finish, Young now has two All-America awards in her Cal State LA career and six for her career.

Young will compete in the triple jump on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PDT. She has the No. 6 mark in the nation in the triple jump with a qualifying mark of 41-5.
