Jonon Young Earns Her Way To NCAA Championships

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's Jonon Young will have the opportunity to add another national championship - or two - to her already tremendous Golden Eagle resume next week in Colorado.

Young, who has already earned five All-America awards and an indoor national championship in the triple jump, was part of the championship field for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships announced on Tuesday.

Young, the 2024 national champion in the indoor triple jump, has qualified for the outdoor championships in both the long jump and triple jump at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl and hosted by Colorado State Pueblo on May 22-24.

Young has the No. 4 mark in the long jump at 20-10 and is only four-and-a-half inches shy of the No. 1 mark of 21-2.50 set by Emy Ntekpere of Central Washington. She finished second in the outdoor long jump last year.

Young has the No. 6 mark in the triple jump with an effort of 41-5. She finished 12th in the event last year and earned second-team All-America honors.

The long jump will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. PDT, while the triple jump will be contested on Saturday, May 24 at 4:30 p.m. PDT.

Young repeated as the champion in both the long jump and triple jump at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships earlier this month and was named the CCAA Field Athlete of the Meet for a second straight season.

She earned her fifth All-America award in indoor track after finishing fifth in the triple jump at the national championships in Indianapolis.
