TURLOCK -- Another day, another championship performance for Cal State LA's men's and women's track and field teams.
One day after capturing the conference long jump championship for a second straight year,
Jonon Young successfully defended her conference crown in the triple jump as well to highlight Day 2 of the three-day meet at Stanislaus State. Young won the triple jump with a mark of 41-1.75 and finished more than two feet ahead of her closest competitor.
Young is currently sixth in the nation in that event with a mark of 41-5 set last month at Cal State LA's Twilight Open.
Sinaiah Pointer also had an outstanding day for the Golden Eagles and finished second in the shot put with a mark of 44-3.25. That was her best mark of the season and was one spot better than the third-place finish she had a year ago at the CCAA Champinships.
Drew Hill had the top performance for the men's team and finished second in the 200 prelims with a time of 21.24 that is his fastest time of the season.
The championship meet will conclude on Saturday.
