NORTHRIDGE -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team put in a good effort in a pair of losses to NCAA Division I programs on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles fell to host CSUN, 5-0, in their first match of the day and then dropped a 4-1 decision to Cal State Bakersfield in their second match at the CSUN Beach Volleyball Complex.
The No. 2 pairs team of
Samarah DaCoud and
Jameson Sanders was the bright spot of the day for the Golden Eagles, rallying for a 15-21, 21-17, 15-12 win over Cal State Bakersfield's Paola Caten and Sarah Martin.
The No. 4 pairs team of
Rebecca Topete and Rebeca Martinez also had an exciting three-set match against Cal State Bakersfield (9-14), falling to Olivia Ostler and Viana Garcia, 21-14, 12-21, 15-11.
In the opening match, Cal State LA (2-10) dropped all five contests in straight sets to CSUN (15-13).
Ayjah Landers and
Juliana Speiski put up a good battle at No. 1 pairs in a 21-15, 21-12 decision to Tasha Mae and Kinley Lindhardt and Sanders and DaCoud had a strong first set in a 21-19, 21-7 loss to Tia Mendiola and Julia Bazylevych at No. 2 pairs.
